What we do

Scarborough Football Scholarship is the leading further education sports programme in the area. Students study 15 different units on the BTEC Level 3 Sports course. Students also have 10 hours of football per week including training and matches to coincide with the education programme.

Steven Brennan

Steven Brennan
Manager

The brainchild of The Scarborough Football Scholarship. Steve is a UEFA B qualified coach who has previously managed at semi-professional level in The North Counties East League. Steve plays a prominent role in helping students achieve target grades, recruitment and the general day to day running of the programme.

Matthew Colven

Matthew Colven
Lead Tutor

After studying a degree in Sports Coaching at The University of Huddersfield Matt went on to do his PGCE. Matt oversees the academic side of the course but his skills don’t stop there. Matt is a UEFA B qualified coach who has previously worked for York City and Hull City. The men’s team benefit from Matt’s experience both in training and on match days.

Scholarship Development Manager

Lee joined The Scarborough Football Scholarship as an apprentice and went on to secure permanent employment. Lee is heavily involved in recruitment, promotional content and is also the Girls team manager. Lee is an FA Level 2 coach who is working his way through his coaching badges.

After studying at Keele University Jim Mellor has gone on to have more than twenty-five years of teaching experience. Jim works hard to ensure all Scholarship students reach their full potential through a range of classroom and practical lessons.
